One ranking policeman who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a blade-wielder has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver subsequent to a road collision in that location in mid-2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Policeman stabbed," the officer stated over his radio.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera video made public by the agency depicted Brown, wearing in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sgt Foster from the rear with a blade pointed forward.

He collided with the officer who stumbled and fell to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the floor despite being continually attacked with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a clear shot, concluding the confrontation to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "I need something on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sgt Ansell suffered multiple lacerations to his neck and additional wounds to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.

Officials said Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his partner's bleeding prior to medical personnel arrived.

The latest recognition arrives after the trio of policemen received organizational Courage Honors in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area Police Federation in spring 2024.

They were also awarded a Regional Bravery Award in summer 2024.

"The actions of each policeman eventually saved one another and resulted in no bystanders suffered any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, per the department.
