Top Diplomat Briefly Halts Trump with Handwritten Note on Gaza Peace Deal

An pressing handwritten note delivered to the President by his top diplomat, Marco Rubio, indicated that an declaration regarding a peace agreement in Gaza could be made very soon.

Recorded in a photograph, the note's text encouraged the president to authorize a message on his Truth Social platform to break the news before others.

"Nearly there," it stated, according to the photo. "We need you to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first."

Not long after the note was revealed, Trump published on his platform, expressing he was "extremely pleased" to reveal the first phase of the agreement.

"This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released shortly, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Enduring Peace," he wrote.

The Incident the Note Was Passed to Trump

Trump was conducting a discussion with conservative influencers about antifa when Rubio, positioned in the back corner of the White House's Blue Room, caught his eye.

He had news for Trump, he said, but it would have to wait until after the media departed. Then, Rubio passed the president the message.

"I just received a note by the secretary of state saying that we're very close to a deal on the Middle East, and they're gonna need me soon," Trump announced. "Therefore, we will address a couple of more questions."

Behind the Scenes of the Peace Talks

The meeting had already been underway for more than an hour when Rubio came forward. The president invited him to enter, and Rubio whispered something to Trump before handing him the note.

The note's urgent tone coincided with Trump's key regional advisor, Steve Witkoff, Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and other high-ranking diplomats joined a third day of negotiations between Israel and Hamas at an Red Sea location – a sign that delegates are working to tackle the most challenging topics of a US plan to end the war in Gaza.

Trump's Remarks on Overseas Trip

Trump had kicked off the influencer event by informing the press that he intended to travel to the Middle East "toward the end of the week" and could even "make the rounds" in the region to Egypt and perhaps Gaza as US diplomats neared completion of a deal.

Nevertheless, even after Rubio passed Trump the note, Trump kept speaking to the influencers and respond to queries from the media as the secretary of state became noticeably restless.

Concluding the Meeting

Nearly 10 minutes after his initial comments about departing, Trump said: "I must leave now to try and solve some problems in the Middle East – although I'm ably assisted by our secretary of state. He could likely do an more effective job than me, but who knows."

"We don't want to take any chances. So we're going to go and do that," Trump added.

He then suggested that Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem stay and answer inquiries in his stead. Nonetheless, Trump kept fielding questions before the event finally broke up without Cabinet members remaining behind.

"We're gonna get peace in the Middle East," Trump wrapped by saying. "That is exactly what we want to do."
